Dr. Nicole George (she/her)
Postdoctoral Fellow; Co-supervised by Dr. Kathryn Birnie
Nicole’s academic path has been shaped by her motivation to improve the lives of individuals living with pain. She completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology (University of Windsor, 2016), where she first saw the overwhelming need for improved pain care in clinical and community settings. She then completed her MSc degree in Neuroscience (McGill University, 2019), studying the underlying neurobiology of chronic pain. Nicole completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science (McGill University, 2025), where her thesis involved participatory approaches to co-design community linkages for equity-oriented pain management. Currently, Nicole is a postdoctoral fellow working with Dr. Melanie Noel in the Pain Education, Advocacy, Knowledge (PEAK) lab and Dr. Kathryn Birnie in the Partnering for Pain Program. Her work involves collaboratively identifying and actioning top priorities for pediatric pain research, care, and policy while centring equitable, ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed partnership practices.
